Father: Killed son to relieve him of his pain
Chennai: Ten days after the cops recovered the body of a 21-year-old man on Thiruvottiyur railway tracks, the police on Tuesday identified him and were startled to find that he was murdered by his own father, who slit his throat as he was unable to nurse him.
Police arrested the father, Nawazuddin (49) who was all this while pretending to have admitted his son in Coimbatore, to his family and friends.
The man himself confessed to the police saying he could not see his ailing son, Mohammad Hussain (21), suffer and so, he decided to kill him.
The incident came to light when the police stuck posters to identify the body and the neighbours who were informed that Hussain was sent to Coimbatore for treatment, identified the body to be his.
The investigating officers then nabbed Nawazuddin, selling samosas at Ambedkar Nagar second street. He confessed on questioning.
According to the police, Nawazuddin was worried that there were none in the family to take care of his son. Also, he reportedly said that Hussain was frustrated and also attacked him a few times.
In the guise of taking him out for a walk on June 8, Nawazuddin slit the throat of his son near the railway tracks and leaving the body there, he got back to his home.
The couple is survived by a son and daughter. However, neighbours said that they had never seen the youth coming outdoors and most of them did not even know he was living in the house. They have not seen him mingling with anybody and only preferred to stay indoors. Thiruvottiyur police have registered a murder case and arrested Nawazuddin.
