APJ Abdul Kalam 1st death anniversary: Aim high and dream high
Chennai-based social organisation Raindropss is giving under-privileged children an opportunity to pay their tributes to the Missile Man, Dr Abdul Kalam on his first death anniversary on July 27.
Even the name of Dr Kalam is an inspiration and motivation. Recently, Raindropss did a survey with the under-privileged children residing in many homes across Chennai. It was a unanimous desire of those children to visit the House of Kalam and his memorial at Rameswaram.
The initiative called ‘Salaam to Kalam’ will fly select children from homes, and schools such as Seers Girls Home, Sevalaya, Anandam, Maatram Foundation, as well as students selected through an essay writing contest from Chennai to Madurai. From there, they will go by road to the memorial of Dr Kalam, and the House of Kalam to pay their tributes, before returning to Chennai.
“This initiative will not only allow the children to visit his memorial, but also fulfil their desire to fly on an aircraft for the first time. It will also make a positive impact on the lives of these children, and give them exposure. The initiative will ensure that the kids take back inspiring values and cherished memories to last a lifetime,” says Aravind Jayabal, founder and creative head of Raindropss.
