2,000 Chennai students get revised marks on revaluation
Chennai: Of 3,422 students who sought revaluation of their plus two answer sheets, over 2,000 students got their marks revised this year. Except for some 300 students who got one or two marks less, all of them had an upward revision of their marks after revaluation, according to sources.
Of the 8.33 lakh students, who wrote plus two exams this year, around one lakh students had applied for a scanned copy of their answer sheets after the results.
According to Directorate of Government Examinations (DGE), 3,422 students applied for revaluation after seeing their answer scripts. As many as 3,344 students have applied for retotalling.
The list of the students whose marks were changed after revaluationand retotalling was released on Friday. “Over 2,000 students’ marks were changed after revaluation. Some 300 students’ marks were reduced this year. In re-totalling around 400 students marks were changed,” a source said.
“Many teachers have awarded marks in the pages but failed to add
it to the total. Some teachers didn’t correct one full page during
evaluation of answer sheets,” one of the teachers who participated in the revaluation process told Deccan Chronicle. In re-tota lling, the marks won’t be reduced. But revaluation entailed fresh evaluation of the paper by a team of three teachers and there are chances that marks awarded can be reduced as well.
Revaluation, which was started during the first week of June, was
completed on June 15.
The list of the students whose marks were changed after the revaluation was released on the website on June 17. Mark sheets would be available to these students at their schools on Monday.
