Do you anticipate a tough fight against Mr V Somanna of the BJP?
I have been doing the rounds of the constituency and the mood is really pro-Congress. People are impressed with the work our government has done, be it the Indira Canteens, Anna Bhagya scheme, or affordable housing for the urban poor. And I have already proved my credibility by beating Mr Somanna and will continue to win over him.
But the people of the constituency complain nothing is being done about women’s safety here.
It was a concern earlier. But we have taken several measures with the police department since. Today there is increased patrolling and the police are working round- the- clock. We have also installed CCTV cameras at 800 locations in the constituency.
What are the projects that you have not been able to do despite wanting to ?
My pet project to provide employment opportunities to thousands of youth in the constituency with the Start Up Incubator could not take off as we did not have enough time or the space. If set up, this would have worked as a platform for hundreds of budding entrepreneurs and graduates to come together , share their ideas and take them forward by getting the right investors and some sort of government assistance. A small company could provide employment to nearly 20 people.
Tell us why should people vote for you again ?
Right from 7am I start to hear the pleas of the people. I try to resolve them then and there or direct the official concerned to take care of the matter. I am easily available to people, know their problems and have been relentlessly working for the upliftment of the poor in the constituency.
