Nabard extended Rs 20L crore loans to rural women
VIJAYAWADA: NABARD chairman Chintala Govinda Rajulu declared that the national bank has been working for women empowerment, as part of which it has provided Rs. 20 lakh crore loans to women in rural areas of the country. He asked women to make good use of various NABARD schemes to empower themselves.
Chintala Govinda Rajulu was speaking at a meeting organised by Ramineni Foundation with farmers at Brahmana Koduru in Guntur district on Friday. He said there are six lakh villages in India where 14 lakh crore families are living, most of them dependent on agriculture.
Member of Parliament Mopidevi Venkataramana Rao, who was present at the meeting, said farmers in coastal areas or along rivers could also look to aquaculture for improving their income. He underlined that Chief Minister Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy is working for development of aquaculture sector. As part of it, ports are also being developed in the state.
Former MLA and Sangam Dairy chairman Dhulipalla Narendra Kumar, Tobacco Board chairman Yadlapati Raghunath Babu, BJP Guntur district president Patibandla Ramakrishna and others participated in the programme.
Meanwhile, newly elected MLC from Krishna and Guntur districts teachers constituency T. Kalpalatha Reddy called on the Chief Minister at his camp office on Friday. On the day, Jagan Mohan Reddy also released “Frontier”, a book penned by senior journalist Rehana.
Panchayat raj minister Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy, government advisors Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy and G. V. D. Krishna Mohan, I&PR commissioner T. Vijaya Kumar Reddy, CPRO to CM Pudi Srihari, and others were present.
