No threat to law and order: Minister V S Sunil Kumar
Thrissur: The law-and-order situation in the state has not collapsed as alleged by the opposition parties, agriculture minister V S Sunil Kumar said. Speaking at the district-level seminar organized here on Sunday as a part of preparations to announce all the police stations in the state as ‘Jana Mythri’ (people friendly) police stations, the minister said that the law-and-order situation was much better as compared to the previous UDF rule. “There would be one-off incidents and going by these it cannot be alleged that the there is extreme lawlessness in the state,” the minister added.
He said citizens should join hands with the police in better enforcement of law and to nip certain criminal tendencies in the bud. “The concept of policing needs to be extended to citizen policing where the common man works hand-in-hand with the cops to maintain peace in the society and fend off criminal activities,” he added. Thrissur MP CN Jayadevan said that even though People Friendly police stations had made certain changes, a lot more could be done for the joint functioning of the civil society and the cops in maintaining law and order.
