Apartments, gated communities can sign up for Kanti Velugu with tweet

Hyderabad: The GHMC will start conducting eye camps and distributing spectacles to the needy, after health minister T. Harish Rao on Thursday inaugurated the second phase of the Kanti Velugu programme at Vivekananda Community Hall in Ameerpet.

“If citizens want them conducted in a gated community or an apartment, they can send a request to the GHMC via Twitter or the website. There are eight staff members in each team, which will conduct 120 to 130 tests a day,” Harish Rao said.

As part of the programme, Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) will hold 5,058 eye camps across 241 locations in 100 days. The GHMC will also undertake door-to-door distribution of leaflets specifying the date, time and details of the camps.

Citizens need to carry their Aadhaar cards, Aarogyashri cards or ration cards for verification and after the eye check-ups, citizens with eye issues will be given free spectacles and medicines.
