Plea to probe Oommen Chandy wealth dismissed
Thiruvananthapuram: The Vigilance Court here on Thursday dismissed a petition seeking a probe against former chief minister Oommen Chandy alleging amassment of wealth based on the statement made by Saritha S. Nair, the solar scam-accused. The court dismissed the petition by Faizal Navas on the ground that a similar case was earlier heard and rejected by the Thrissur Vigilance Court. It also said it could not interfere in the case as it was under the consideration of the solar commission and the High Court.
Faizal wanted a Vigilance inquiry against Chandy, Aryadan Muhammed, former power minister, Biju Radhakrishnan and Saritha S. Nair, Jikkumon and Joppan, former personal staff members of Chandy, and Kesavan, former personal staff member of Aryadan. The court had recently dismissed a similar case alleging that former vigilance director Shanker Reddy had suppressed a set of petitions seeking action against Chandy and Aryadan Mohammed on the basis of Saritha S. Nair's claim that she had bribed the two while giving a statement to the solar commission.
