HC Junks Plea to Allow Nomination

Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court dismissed a writ petition that sought rejection of the nomination filed by minister and BRS candidate Ch. Malla Reddy from the Medchal constituency on the ground of furnishing incorrect information regarding his educational qualification.

Kandadi Anji Reddy, petitioner, said that he had filed an objection to the nomination affidavit filed by Malla Reddy on November 13 but the returning officer had not replied. The petitioner also sought action against the officer for not replying to the objections.

A bench of Chief Justice Alok Aradhe and Justice N.V. Sravan Kumar dismissed the writ petition said, “Action against the returning officer does not survive for consideration as admittedly, the objection preferred by the petitioner has been rejected by an order on 15-11-2023 and the same is supplied to the petitioner.”

The Chief Justice made it clear that this order will not be an impediment to the petitioner to avail of the remedy provided in the Representation of the Peoples Act, 1951.
