CPI activists attack man for complaint against flagpole
Kottayam: The police on Saturday booked 20 Communist Party of India (CPI) activists for attacking Abraham Thomas, a Thuruthy resident, who wanted a party flagpole they erected before his gate while he was working in Kuwait removed. They assembled outside his house late Friday night and hurled stones, damaging the gate. Some of them slapped him when he questioned.
"They also threatened to eliminate me," Mr Thomas told DC. Soon the police reached the spot and registered a case against four identified and 16 unidentified persons for rioting, causing hurt, threatening and causing destruction. The four are Shaji George, Vazhappally local committee secretary, Adv Madhavan Pillai, K.T. Thomas and Santhosh Payipad.
The CPI leaders removed the flagpost from the front of the gate and placed it hardly seven meters away bordering his wall. He had last week described on Facebook how the post blocks his entrance with a photograph. On Saturday, he took to the social networking site again with an appeal not "to help" him by sharing his post as he’s "under treatment now."
