Union workers stop online cab on duty in Kozhikode

However, before the police reached, the union members placed their flags on the taxi and left.

KOZHIKODE: Two women passengers were stopped by taxi union workers on Friday, while they were travelling in a Mango taxi on Link Road. CITU and BMS union workers protested against the online taxi stopping near their taxi stand and punctured the tyres of the Mango taxi. The women, including a senior citizen, who hired the taxi for a full day called the control room and police reached the spot. However, before police could reach, the union members placed their flags on the taxi and left.

The driver of the mango cab said that he also gave his statement at the Town police station, apart from the complaint of the women. The women said they were willing to proceed with the complaint. But Mango cab officials are disheartened by the approach of the private taxi unions as well as the police, after agreeing to the revised fare. This is not the first time that women passengers have complained about the high-handedness of the private taxis and being stopped midway. Earlier, a woman lawyer, who had hired a Mango taxi to take her son to the physician was also stopped.
