145 villagers snap ties with Maoists in Odisha's Malkangiri

The people were offered clothes and food at the SP's office, the police said.

Malkangiri: At least 145 Maoist supporters including 53 women today surrendered before the Odisha Police at the office of the Superintendent of Police, Malkangiri.

Malkangiri SP Mitrabhanu Mohapatra welcomed the people who announced not to support the Maoists for they were attacking the Innocent people in villages.

The surrendered persons hailed from Kurup and Marigeta villages under Kalimela police station jurisdiction of Malkangiri district and included four members of the militia group who were attached to Maoists' Kalimela Dalam, the police said.

The people were offered clothes and food at the SP's office, the police said.
