MP P V Abdul Wahab offers black tea to haters
MALAPPURAM: Social media is abuzz with a sulaimani (black tea in Malabar) ‘brewed’ by Rajya Sabha member and Muslim League leader P.V. Abdul Wahab on his official Facebook page on Monday night. In the post, Mr Wahab invites all hate mongers, who upped their ante against the Muslims of Malappuram district time and again, to sit with him and have a sulaimani to familiarise them with the true affability of people of the district without considering anyone’s caste or creed. He claimed that all issues could be sorted out with a glass of Sulaimani.
The post came in the wake of a widely circulated video clip of Dr N. Gopalakrishnan, a Sangh Parivar member, who delivered a hate speech scoffing at Muslim women of Malappuram in an insulting language. The FB post #entevakasulaimani got over 6,000 likes and 3,000 shares in a day. “Your inertia and intolerance towards the history of the district and its freedom fighters like Mampuram Thangal, Umer Qazi and Aali Musliyar may not allow you to follow history. It is the place where literary icons like Thunjathu Ezhuthachan, Poonthanam and Vallathol were born,” the post says.
“The votes bagged by MLAs in the district include those from all communities. There are no MLAs for Muslims in Malappuram but they represent all,” the post further said. Mr Wahab also talked about the secular fabric of Malappuram and Muslim League’s usual claim of tolerance of people of Malappuram in the aftermath of the demolition of Babri Masjid.
