Telangana Martyrs Memorial nearing completion

CM likely to inaugurate it in December along with Secretariat complex

Hyderabad: Construction of Telangana Martyrs Memorial near Lumbini Park is nearing completion. Official sources in the Roads and Buildings department said that Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao is likely to inaugurate the memorial in December.

Construction works are going on at a brisk pace and expected to be completed by December second week. Initially, it was proposed to inaugurate the memorial on the occasion of Dasara on October 5.

Meanwhile, construction works of the new Secretariat complex are also nearing completion. Rao is expected to inaugurate the new Secretariat in December along with Telangana Martyrs Memorial. The inauguration of the Secretariat was also planned for Dasara.

The state government is building Telangana Martyrs’ Memorial to pay tributes to those who sacrificed their lives for the cause of achieving statehood.

The three lakh sq.ft iconic structure is shaped like a lamp. It can accommodate around 300 cars and 600 two-wheelers. The first floor will include a photo gallery, museum and art gallery. The second and third floors will house a convention centre and restaurants respectively.
