Sun shines on Warangal Shiva Linga
The sunrays entered the temple and touched the linga on Saturday evening between 5.55 pm and 6.15 pm.
Warangal: Special prayers were conducted at the Siddeshwara temple in Hanamkonda after sunrays hit the Shiva Linga inside the sanctum sanctorum — an annual feat at the Kakatiya era temple.
Surrounded by hillocks on all four sides, the linga at the temple receives sunlight only for 10 to 15 minutes on two or three consecutive days in the Bhadrapada month of the Hindu calendar.
For the past several years, this event — considered a divine act or caused due to engineering marvel — happened between Vinayaka Chavithi and Navaratri.
Though the event occurred a couple of days late this year, devotees were not left disappointed. The sunrays entered the temple and touched the linga on Saturday evening between 5.55 pm and 6.15 pm.
