Thiruvananthapuram: The Admission Supervisory Committee headed by Justice J.M. James has asked the self-financing medical colleges not to reject any applications submitted for MBBS course on flimsy grounds.
The applicants should be allowed to rectify the mistakes, if any, in the online applications so as to avoid rejection. The admissions already made would be cancelled in case students are not allowed to rectify the defects, the committee warned the colleges.
The committee, in a letter sent to the managements, said that on scrutiny of the MBBS rank lists published by various medical colleges, it was found that the colleges in general were not allowing the applicants to rectify the mistakes in the online applications. It was alleged that the colleges were rejecting the applications on flimsy grounds that included undertakings to produce the bank guarantee are not proper or certain documents are not legible or missing. Thereafter, the colleges grant seats to other applicants, whose entrance ranks are far below that of the rejected applicants, the letter said.
The committee also asked the colleges to publish the details of the total individual online applications received by them, the details of the defects noted in applications, the method through which such defects were rectified and the total list of eligible applicants.
