Nameless letter targets dead Telangana sub-inspector
Hyderabad: A petition alleging corruption by Kuknoorpally sub-inspector U. Ramakrishna Reddy, who committed suicide on Wednesday, is under inquiry.
The anonymous petition was circulated to higher officials of Medak via post stating that Reddy had demanded money from the complainant.
Police on Thursday recorded the statement of Gajwel sub-inspector and another constable. Cops are yet to examine the Siddipet DSP and Toguta circle inspector, whose names Ramakrishna Reddy had mentioned in his suicide note.
Hyderabad range DIG Akun Sabharwal said that the department was inquiring into the allegations made by Reddy in his suicide note. “We will proceed as per evidence. Allegations on money transactions will also be looked into,” he said.
Sources said that the anonymous complaint circulated to all police stations across the district, had a strong effect on Reddy, which led to depression.
A few days ago, a head constable and another constable from Kuknoorpally police station were shifted from the police station. Since then, there was a change in Ramakrishna Reddy’s attitude and behaviour, said sources.
“We have recorded the statement of Gajwel SI Satish, who first came to the spot, and constable Raju, who had been a part of an earlier investigation with Ramakrishna. We will examine the DSP and circle inspector very soon regarding the allegations against them,” said investigating officer, Nizamabad ASP Pratap Reddy.
He added that based on the inquiry, altering the charges in the case will be looked into. The statement of Ramakrishna Reddy’s wife and parents will be recorded after a couple of days.
