Bengaluru: Man gets his handicapped son killed by rowdy

The deceased, Basavaraju, was the third child for Jayappa and his wife, who hail from Davanagere and working in the city as construction workers.

Bengaluru: The Central Crime Branch (CCB) have arrested a rowdy-sheeter in connection with the murder of a five-year-old handicapped boy. The boy’s father was also arrested for conniving with the rowdy.

According to the police, the rowdy has been identified as Mahesh, 37, an auto rickshaw driver, a resident of Rajajinagar. He was a rowdy-sheeter inMagadi road police station.

The deceased, Basavaraju, was the third child for Jayappa and his wife, who hail from Davanagere and working in the city as construction workers. Basavaraju was mute and could not walk.Jayappa was arrested for not registering a complaint with the police.A senior police officer said, “We had recently summoned rowdy-sheeters for questioning. Mahesh was also there and when he was questioned about his daily activities, he was circumspect. On further questioning we found he had murdered a boy for`50,000.”

The officer added that Mahesh recently met Jayappa and they became good friends. Jayappa told him that among his four children bringing up Basavaraju was proving to be a challenge. He had already spent a lot of money for his treatment.”

Mahesh offered to kill the child by giving him an injection for which Jayappa will have to pay

`50,000, and Jayappa agreed, the officer added.

The officer said a few days ago Mahesh went to Jayappa’s house and asked them to stay out as he wanted to administer the injection. But instead he fatally strangulated Basavaraju. Jayappa later got the body cremated at Gorguntepalya graveyard.

Mahesh and Jayappa have been handed over to Nandini Layout police for further investigation.
