Swathi murder case: Ramkumar's father wants CBI inquiry

The father of Ramkumar, has complained of unfair investigation by the Chennai city police and has demanded a CBI inquiry into the case.

TIRUNELVELI: The father of Ramkumar, key accused in the Swathi murder case, has complained of unfair investigation by the Chennai city police and has demanded a CBI inquiry into the case.

Speaking to media persons at Shengottai in Tirunelveli district on
Monday, Ramkumar’s father, Paramasivam reiterated that his son ‘fixed’ as the sole accused in the Swathi murder case was innocent.

“Havingthoroughly checked his Facebook ID with the help of our advocate Ramraj, and the members of Progressive advocates’ association we came to know that my son is in no way related to Swathi,” said Paramasivam.

Expressed his disappointment at the Chennai police’s enquiry into the case, he demanded the Union Home minister and the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister to shift the case to CBI for a fair investigation.

Ramkumar’s advocate, Ramraj, who too was present with Paramasivam, raked up a suspicion that Swathi's murder might be a ‘religious honour killing’ as the lawyer added, “She (Swathi) is said to have married his boyfriend Bilal Malik in Bengaluru against the wishes of her parents.”

“The Chennai police, however, is reluctant to investigate this angle,”
added Ramraj, who also said that he along with his lawyer friends have been trying to find the marriage registration certificate of Swathi in Bengaluru.

The “VCK president Thol Thirumavalavan should have made his statement based on these unanswered suspicions,” said Ramraj, who believed that enquiry by an independent agency like the CBI would bring out the real truth behind the murder.
