TS in dock over razing of heritage structure

The court issued notices to the principal secretary, municipal administration, Commissioner, GHMC, commissioner of police, Hyderabad

HYDERABAD: The Telangana High Court issued notices to the state government directing it to respond within four weeks and furnish reasons for demolition of the notified heritage building ‘Khusro Manzil’ located at AC Guards, Hyderabad.

A division bench comprising Chief Justice Satish Chandra Sharma and Justice Abhinand Kumar Shavili was dealing with a PIL filed by Bala Ramachandram, secretary, Residents of Hill View Colony and four others, who were aggrieved due to the demolition of the heritage building. The court issued notices to the principal secretary, municipal administration, Commissioner, GHMC, commissioner of police, Hyderabad and the commissioner, HMDA directing them to respond within four weeks.

The counsel for the petitioner informed the court that ‘Khusro Manzil’ was notified as a heritage building and it was buttressed by way of a GO.102 dated 23 March 1998, despite which, the officials demolished it and sought a direction to the Telangana government to restore the heritage building to its original shape.
