No parking for Kochi Metro

Police to fine Metro riders' vehicles parked on roads.

KOCHI: Even as Kochi Metro begins its normal functioning from Monday 6 am, the Kochi police has come out with stringent controls on road traffic in the city and Aluva so as to ensure that no traffic blocks are formed in the wake of rush of people to board the Metro trains. The City Police Commissioner M.P. Dinesh, in a release, said that special police will be deployed to control road traffic as well as the queue for Metro trains leading to roadsides from metro stations.

He also said that those who are coming to board the Metro trains will not be allowed to park their vehicles on the road side. “Till Kochi Metro arranges own parking, parking will also not be allowed near Metro,” he said. He also said that those who come to board trains or visit Aluva Metro station can park their vehicles on the Seminarippadi-Manappuram road and Paravur Jn-Manappuram road.

Interestingly, the city police chief has said that those who want to board train from Palarivattom and Edappally Metro station can park their vehicles at the parking lot near Kaloor Jawaharlal Nehru International Stadium. He advised the public who wish to use the Kochi Metro to take KSRTC and other public conveyance prior to it. He also said that for ensuring the safety and security of women, the service of the pink patrol will be used and also of the vehicles of the police control room.
