Hartal to test Kochi Metro on Day one

Hartal supporters were silent on disrupting Metro services.

KOCHI: The inaugural day of the commercial operations of Kochi Metro will be marked by hartal, the favourite past time of the state on Monday. The Welfare Party of India and the CPI-ML (Red Star) have called for a district-wide hartal in Ernakulam in protest against police action at Puthuvypen. The hartal supporters inability to scale a ‘metro block’ like road blocks will be the only saving grace for Metro authorities. Hartal supporters were silent on disrupting Metro services.

The Metro authorities, however, are going ahead with the operations as decided earlier. According to the schedule the first service will commence at 6 am from Palarivattom and Aluva stations. The services will stop at 10 pm in the night covering 291 services on both directions.
