Kerala girl tops Tamil Nadu medical rank list
Thiruvananthapuram: Aadithya Mahesh M.V. , a Malayali student from Kanyakumari district who studied at the Carmel Higher Secondary School here was ranked first with 200 out of 200 in the Tamil Nadu MBBS and BDS merit list. The results were announced on Friday.
She had got 9.5 CGPA in the standard XII in CBSE. The girl had studied in her native place in Vilavancode Taluk of Tamil Nadu before the family decided moved to a house nearer to the school in Vazhuthacaud in the city. Ms Aaditya told Deccan Chronicle that her dream was to study in Madras Medical College.
"I want to work somewhere in Tamil Nadu after completing my medical studies as I have to give something back to the state which groomed me. I do not want to migrate to another country for better career scope,” Ms Aaditya said. “I will take a decision on the area of specialisation after post graduation,” she added.
Her mother Vanaja Kumari is a housewife and father S. Manikandan, is a local reporter for a Malayalam daily. She has a brother who completed B Tech and is now working in Qatar.
The cut-off for admission for Tamil Nadu medical college is calculated based on the percentage of marks secured by a candidate in Biology (100), Chemistry and Physics taken together (100) in the plus two levels without conducting a separate entrance test. In the event of a tie, candidates with higher marks in Chemistry get preference. If many students have the same scores, then the percentage in the fourth optional subject is taken into account.
