COMEDK: Deadlock over government quota continues
Bengaluru: The confusion over the medical seat matrix continued as the state government and the private medical colleges’ association failed to arrive at any consensus over government quota seats in private medical and dental colleges.
On Friday, medical education department officials had expressed confidence of signing the revised consensual agreement with the private medical colleges association over seat matrix and fee structure. But the Saturday’s meeting failed to end the deadlock.
Private (non-minority) colleges want a clear picture on the seat matrix following the NEET ordinance issued by the union government. “Colleges are yet to submit any concrete proposal. Minority medical colleges are also not on board. Lot of issues yet to be resolved,” said a medical education department official.
Fee structure
One of the proposals in front of all the stakeholders in revising the fee structure fixed for the government quota students and all-India quota students.
“As per the SC order, cross subsidy cannot be provided to any student. Private colleges are apprehensive about the legal impact of continuing the consensual agreement,” he said.
