People rush to savour Ramzan delicacies as Id nears

HYDERABAD: While Ramzan is a festival of devotion for the faithful, Hyderabad celebrates it as a festival of food, as this is the time of the year that delicacies like haleem and kheer are prepared by renowned chefs and restaurants across the city.

Over the past month, residents have been dropping by eateries in Mehdipatnam, Erragadda, Doodbowli, Asifnagar, Ek Minar Masjid Street, Yousufin Dargah Street, Bahadurpura, Santoshnagar, Purani Haweli, Shaalibanda and Talab Katta, which are among the popular hubs.

With the Ramzan month now entering its final days, popular restaurants are recording a sharp rise in footfall over the past few days, with Pathar Ka Ghosh, Shami Kebab, Sheek Kebab, Malai Ghosh, Talava Ghosh, Till Chicken and Kheema Lukme the most sought-after dishes.

Sajida Khan, a resident of Moula Ali, said, “During this season, after having dinner, my family makes a tour of the food joints in the city, especially in the Old City area, where we get to taste the most delicious food, which is not available after this season. It not just about eating, but it’s an experience.”

Hameed Farook, a resident of London, who is visiting Hyderabad, said: “I have explored street foods in various places; each and every place has its own style and flavours. The kebabs I had in Towlichowki are among the best. They are so soft and tender.”

Arshad Ali Khan, a resident of Basheerbagh, said: “My friends and I, in a large group, each day visit one place and try the food after dinner. The best place for me is the Doodhbowli Road, which is near Petlaburj.”

He said, “Thousands of migrants are also enjoying the night food festivals at these joints.”
