April 26 meet to resolve energy staff's PRC issues

VIJAYAWADA: Special chief secretary (Energy) K. Vijayanand has disclosed that a high-level meeting on Pay Revision Committee 2022 will be held on April 26 to resolve PRC issues of energy department employees.

Vijayanand held an internal review meeting on PRC issues with officials of APGENCO, APTRANSCO and AP DISCOMs. He thanked Dr. Manmohan Singh committee for timely submission of the PRC report to the government.

The special CS maintained that employees of AP power utilities are technically more efficient and committed than others in the country. He commended them for providing 24x7 quality power supply.

APGENCO managing director and APTRANSCO JMD K.V.N. Chakradhar Babu said power demand has increased manifold in the state. It has reached a record high in range of 240–245 million units (MUs) in April 2023, with temperatures in AP hovering between 40–45 degrees Celsius. The consumption is 5–6 per cent higher than the corresponding demand in April 2022. It is expected that the demand may reach 250 MUs per day in the coming days.

Explaining the project highlights of Sri Damodara Sanjeeviah Thermal Power Station (SDSTPS)-Stage-II-1X800 MW, Chakradhar Babu said the Supercritical Unit-3 of 800 MW capacity taken up as Stage-II of SDSTPS has been in operation since March 10, 2023. It is contributing around 16 MU of energy daily, thereby meeting the rising demand of AP state grid.
