Ghar vapsi: Cold shoulder to P P Mukundan
Thiruvananthapuram: P. P. Mukundan, who returned to his old party office, Mararji Bhavan, after a decade on Monday, received a 'cold' welcome as no senior BJP leader was present there. Mr Mukundan lighted the lamp at the pooja room and spoke to reporters where he said BJP would have representation in the Assembly this time. He started his Facebook account, P. P. Mukundan Mukundettan, which has already seen more than 3,000 friends.
It was during his tenure as organisational secretary the BJP state headquarters was shifted to Mararji Bhavan at Aristo Junction in early 2000 from the earlier office at Tutors Lane at Statue. The land belonged to former bureaucrat and Congress leader S. Krishnakumar. He was lighting the lamp in the pooja room after several years. He prayed before the deities.
Later he told DC that though he felt ‘empty,' when he lit the lamp, he felt peace at heart. “It was a homecoming feeling after a decade. BJP Thiruvananthapuram district president S. Suresh had called me over the phone informing that he would be there soon. I waited for him until 10:45 am and then left Mararji Bhavan. Only after holding talks with state president Kummanam Rajasekharan, I would decide my future course of action,” he said.
Mr Rajasekharan said since all the senior leaders were out campaigning in respective constituencies, they could not be there when Mr Mukundan came to the party office. Mr Mukundan later left for Mumbai and is expected back in the state capital by Thursday, after which he would decide on his ‘karma bhumi’.
