Attingal twin murder: A diabolic crime, court says

The court also made harsh remarks against Anu Shanthi holding that she had active participation in the crime.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: 'All the perfumes of Arabia will not sweeten this little hand.' This famous quote from William Shakespeare's Macbeth was used by Thiruvananthapuram principal district judge V Shircy to convey the brutality of the cold blooded murders committed by techie Nino Mathew. Delivering the sentence in the Attingal twin Murder case on Monday, the court described the murder as a diabolic and heinous crime committed for the satisfaction of lust.

"A child, who was even younger to his own child was killed using a weapon (baseball stick) that was longer than the child. The child's future was nipped in the bud. The killing of a hapless woman and a kid tarnished the dreams of a father and a grandfather. With about 14 cuts and assaults causing damages even to brain, it was a diabolic act. All this was done for the satisfaction of lust," the court observed while pronouncing capital punishment to Mathew.

The court also made harsh remarks against Anu Shanthi holding that she had active participation in the crime. She had conditioned her mind for the heinous crime. She is a shame for motherhood, the judge observed. Both were emotionless while the sentence were pronounced in a packed courtroom.
