Manipur's future bleak, says Irom Sharmila

The political ambience of the state and the freedom enjoyed by people were great, she said.

Kozhikode: Manipuri human rights activist Irom Sharmila has confessed that the people had rejected her in the elections. With her defeat, the people of Manipur had lost a chance for a great future, she said during an interactive session with the journalism students of Malabar Christian College here on Saturday.

“Politics and human life are inseparable, ” she said. She also expressed joy over getting a feel of the Arabian sea at the beautiful beach. The political ambience of the state and the freedom enjoyed by people were great, she said. Malabar Christian College principal Godwin Samraj presented her a memento. Journalism department head R.V. Santhosh, Gayathri Baiju and association secretary Shafeeq Chundakkadan among others were present.
