Alappuzha: Works minister G. Sudhakaran has accused ‘unprofessional and incompetent’ doctors at government medical colleges of referring patients to private hospitals. He was inaugurating HLL Lifecare pharmacy, surgical and optical outlet, the 12th in Kerala offering affordable life-saving drugs and medical equipment, at the Government TD Medical College Hospital here.
“Efforts like that of the HLL could bring a change in the industry,” he said. The store sells surgical implants, medicines, disposables, stents, pacemakers, lenses and frames at a 10 to 40 percent lower price. Subsidised services and cashless services to Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojana (RSBY) cardholders are also available. District panchayat president G. Venugopal presided over the function.
