BJP, ABVP to hold sit-in at Sree Kerala Varma College
Thrissur: BJP and ABVP will hold a sit-in on Sunday at Kerala Varma College, protesting the attack by SFI activists during a meeting on Friday. The sit-in will start at 10.30 am, the organisers said. Meanwhile BJP state president Kummanam Rajasekharan visited the injured ABVP workers at a private hospital in Thrissur on Friday. He demanded a judicial probe into the incident, and said that the attack on the meeting was planned by SFI with the silent support of the police.
“We had sought police protection, but not even a single cop turned up at the protest meet on Friday, held in front of the college. Only after the clashes began, the police rushed to the spot,” he said. Meanwhile, SFI district secretary Rossel Raj K.S. said that his organisation members were busy with the A-zone youth festival being held at Kunnamkulam and would organize a protest against the RSS-led campus violence in colleges across the state. West Police had registered cases against both SFI and ABVP activists under IPC 308.
