Judo coach arrested for misbehaving with minor
VIJAYAWADA: Vijayawada city police registered a POCSO case and arrested judo coach Ch. Samuel Raj for allegedly misbehaving with a minor girl judo student at a private judo academy in K.V. Kandrika of Vijayawada.
According to Nunna Rural Police, Samuel Raj is working on an outsourcing basis with District Sports Authority (DSA) at Anakapalli. He had been taking the two judo players, both minors, to Chennai for participating in the Judo National Championship. They had stopped at Vijayawada for catching the link train on Thursday.
Pending arrival of the train, he took the judo players to the private judo academy at K.V. Kandrika on outskirts of Vijayawada.
Police said Samuel Raj consumed liquor and misbehaved with one of the judo players by touching her private parts. The minor informed her relatives, who are in Vijayawada city, about the incident. The relatives, in turn, complained to the police control room over phone.
On receiving information, Nunna Rural Police rushed to the judo academy and took accused Samuel Raj into custody.
After taking a complaint from the minor, police registered a case under sections 354A, 509 and 12 of the POCSO Act and arrested the accused.
