Hyderabad: Transco gets time, Electricity Regulatory Commission rap

The TSTransco had sought time till February 28.

Hyderabad: Making known its displeasure at delay in submission of tariff proposals for 2017-18, the state Electricity Regulatory Commission on Saturday extended the deadline for TSTransco to submit the proposals to February 23, 2017. The TSTransco had sought time till February 28. The ERC warned TSTransco that if it failed to submit the proposals before February 23, it would suo motu determine tariff proposals for 2017-18. A letter to this effect was sent by the ERC to the power utilities.

In its letter, the ERC pointed out that under the provisions of the Electricity Act, 2003, the power utilities are required to file the annual revenue requirement and retail supply tariff proposals for the financial year by November 30. ERC in its letter to the power utilities said that according to the provisions of National Tariff Policy, Clause 8.1.(7) says: “Appropriate Commission should initiate tariff determination and regulatory scrutiny on a suo motu basis in case the licensee does not initiate filings in time.”
