Hyderabad: The Union ministry of defence on January 17 directed CEOs of all 62 cantonments to map their respective areas, with specific colours to demarcate areas and submit the same to the Directorate General of defence estates by January 20.
In a letter, the ministry said that notified civil areas and outside-civil areas, where civilians reside must be marked yellow, commercial and mixed-use areas by civilians must be marked red, lands used for the military purpose must be marked green, other government departments to be marked blue and the civic amenities must be marked black.
Sources said that the first two categories, under which red and yellow markings are to be done, are likely to be merged with the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation.
