Retired City Officials Cling to Posts
HYDERABAD: Over 50 retired officials including the ones holding key posts in various departments under the Telangana Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA&UD) are clinging to their posts and the state government will shortly take a call on either to retain them or sack them.
The services of these officials were extended during the BRS regime. Senior officials of the general administration department (GAD) said that their services were extended on the recommendations of former chief secretary Somesh Kumar and former MA&UD special chief secretary Arvind Kumar.
Most of these officials were accommodated in Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA), Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB) and Commissioner & Director of Municipal Administration (CD&MA).
The GHMC officials holding key posts include P. Anuradha, Jai Raj Kennedy and Suresh Kumar.
Kennedy is GHMC additional commissioner (finance) and his service tenure was extended thrice for three consecutive years.
Anuradha takes care of GHMC Call Centre and her services too have been extended for three years. Suresh Kumar's services have been extended twice for two consecutive years and he is taking care of the construction of 2BHK houses project.
Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB) executive director M. Satyanarayana’s service was extended thrice for three consecutive years. The services of 10 HMDA employees, including chief engineer B.L.N. Reddy, have been extended after retirement.
