I will Work for the All-Round Growth of Villages: Seethakka

Warangal: “Having become a minister, my responsibilities have increased tremendously and I should be more accountable to the people,” said panchayat raj minister D. Anasuya (Seethakka), who visited Mulugu district for the first time after taking charge on Sunday.

She was given a grand reception by the local Congress party leaders, who also took out a rally from Mohammad Gousepally to Gattamma temple where she offered prayers. Later, she visited Medaram, where she offered jaggery matching her weight (a tradition followed by the devotees) to the presiding tribal deities Sammakka and Saralamma.

Speaking on the occasion, Seethakka said that even though she had a lot of responsibilities as a minister, she would prefer to camp in Mulugu district, where the people were like her family.

“It is my good fortune that I have got a chance to work for the development of the downtrodden. I will strive for the all-round development of the rural villages in the agency regions,” she said.

Public representatives and Congress leaders would be available to the people to resolve the issues they faced under the BRS government, she said.

Only three districts Gajwel, Siddipet and Rajanna Sircilla were developed by the BRS government because of the party leadership’s vested interests, the minister said.

The Congress party will not only implement the six guarantees it has given to the people but will also fulfill all the promises made to them, she said.

Later, the minister along with the MP M. Kavitha and district collector Ila Tripaty held a review meeting about the arrangements to be made for the biggest tribal fair Medaram Jatara, slated to be held in February.
