Kerala: Car dealer to pay for delay in giving goodies
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Ernakulam Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum has directed a car dealer to pay Rs Rs 3,000 for not delivering goodies promised along with a car on time as promised at the time of the purchase. As per the complainant, RV Martin of Manakunnam, had purchased a new Maruti Wagon R car from the dealer. A sales executive informed him that if the booking was made before September 30, 2014, the customer would get a gold coin, scratch win card and corporate rebate. So Mr Martin remitted an advance of Rs 1,000 and paid over Rs 4.13 lakh. Despite the receipt of the invoice amount, the offers weren’t provided and instead Rs 6,000 was adjusted in the price without considering the advance.
The sales executive scratched a card in front of the complainant and won a branded hometheatre that cost Rs 13,500. After delays, a home theatre worth Rs 3,000 was delivered. Martin then moved the Ernakulam Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum. The company argued that the promised hometheatre was not given as it was out of stock. Also, the values of the other offers were adjusted in the final costs. However, the forum ordered that the advance of Rs 1,000 be refunded and ordered another Rs 2,000 for delays in delivering the promised hometheatre.
