Guntur: The Acharya Nagarjuna University,which was struggling to get a grade from the NAAC at last succeeded to get A grade.
Recently, the peer team from the NAAC inspected the ANU for three day to grant accreditation. The NAAC accorded A grade to the ANU and informed the ANU officials. The students are hoping for betterment of educational standards in the ANU and career guidance with the NAAC A grade announcement.
The NAAC peer team led by Professor H.P. Kincha thoroughly inspected the ANU on December 5, 6 and 7 and submitted a detailed report. The NAAC gave A grade with 3.08 points to the ANU. NAAC meeting of the standing committee was held on December 16 which gave A grades to the ANU.
Earlier in the year 2010, the ANU got B grade with only 2.86 points. The ANU officials said that the university will now get national recognition and more funds from the University Grants Commission and research projects from prestigious institutions.
The ANU students welcomed the A grade and sought introduction of employment-generating courses and improvement of research facilities. ANU Vice-Chancellor Prof A. Rajendra Prasad said that the ANU would be developed as the main university in Amaravati. Rector Prof. K.R.S. Sambasiva Rao, Registrar Prof. K. John Paul and others expressed happiness over the ANU being awarded the A grade.
