Fog-blinded trucker runs over two techies in Hyderabad

Rammohan Reddy and Subramanyam were killed when a speeding truck ran over them at Moinabad on Saturday.

Hyderabad: Dense fog claimed the lives of two techies who were on a joyride to Anantagiri Hills. Rammohan Reddy and Subramanyam were killed when a speeding truck ran over them at Moinabad on Saturday.

Police said the truck driver may not have seen the bike due to the dense fog. Four others were also with them on two bikes. They were identified as Vamsi, Manoj, Madhu Kumar and Srinivas.

Police said the six, including the two victims, were working as engineers in TCS.
On Saturday morning they started for Anantagiri Hills via the Hyderabad-Bijapur highway. Srinvas and Madhu were on one bike, Vamsi and Manoj on the second bike, while Rammohan and Subramanyam were on the third bike.

The people on the first two bikes did not see the third bike when they reached the Appareddyalli Gate village, and halted. Meanwhile, they heard a loud noise and when they rushed back they found both their friends lying in a pool of blood. Both of them died on the spot. Police said they suspect a vehicle had hit their bike.

“We have clues. We are working on them to nab the truck and the driver,” Rajendranagar ACP K. Ganga Reddy said. According to sources there are no eyewitnesses to the accident. The victim’s friends said they saw a truck being driven at a very high speed and trying to overtake vehicles rashly.

They just missed getting hit by the truck and assumes that it could have hit their friends. Based on a complaint from M. Srinivas, a member of the group, police registered a case for causing death through negligence.

Victims were best friends since college
Rammohan and Subramanyam were classmates during engineering and were together in their company and in death, friends said. Kamaswamy Rammohan Reddy 24, of Kurnool district and Gundam Subra-manyam from Chitt-oor district passed Computer Science Engineering from Pulla Reddy Engin-eering College in Kurnool.

Recollecting memories, their friends said that they were close friends. While Subra-manyam wanted to pursue higher studies abroad and take up a job there, Rammohan wanted to be in India so that he can be close to his parents. Although their friends escaped they are now in shock.

Colleagues said they had been planning to visit a temple in Anantagiri and go for an outing in the nearby hills. On Saturday morning, they saw the road was covered with dense fog and were driving at a slow pace, enjoying the breeze and the greenery on both sides of the road.

Midway they saw a speeding truck which overtook vehicles rashly. “It came towards us and we had to completely pull of the road and halt for it to pass,” one of them said. By the time they recovered they heard a loud noise and some passersby said two persons were seriously injured in an accident. They rushed to the spot and found their friends lying in blood.

“We did not expect that our joy trip ride will become a disaster. We cannot face their parents,” another one said. Rammohan was driving the bike and was wearing a helmet. But the hit was so strong that his helmet flew from his head and the truck ran over him crashing his face.
