Salaries on time, says CM Pinarayi Vijayan
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Thursday allayed fears about disbursement of November salary to government and quasi government staff. At the Cabinet briefing, the Chief Minister said that salaries of employees would be disbursed on time and there was no need any apprehension on this count. He said the government has decided to open 25 currency exchange counters in each treasury to help the staff.
The Chief Minister said in view of the crisis faced by plantation workers, the government has decided to route their salaries through the district collectors. “We have asked the plantation managers to deposit salaries with the respective collector of their areas. The collector will disburse the wages,” he said. Mr Pinarayi said the decision to route the wages of workers through collectors had been taken in the wake of the failure of banks to give any concrete assurance in this regard.
Other decisions
The Cabinet sanctioned Rs 8.94 lakh to shooter Sidharth Babu to procure shooting equipment and for training at the international level, from the Sports Development Fund. One more post of matron created for women’s hostel at Ernakulam Government Law College and a teachers post created for Bio Chemistry at the TKM College, Kollam.
Cabinet sanctioned Rs 2 lakh each as fixed deposit for three children of Joy, a resident Nedumengad who died recently. The orphaned children are under the care of their grandmother. The education expenses will be met with the interest money on the FD. The kids will be enrolled in Snehapoorvam policy of the social justice department.
Joy's mother would be given pension.
Cabinet sanctioned nine cents of land for B. Kalyanikutty Amma in Mylam village. Her family was evicted in 1977 for Kallada Irrigation Project staff quarters. 3.14 are land to be given to homeo department for setting up fertility clinic in Kannur district.
