Woman protests at police station over rent dispute

Visakhapatnam: A woman protested at Pendurthi police station and locked the compound wall gate on Tuesday evening.

As per DCP (South) K. Anand Reddy, the woman, identified as Gouri Parvati, had a dispute with her house owner, Gurunatham, over rent. She claimed that she had paid the rent but was asked to vacate the premises. Gurunatham denied her claims, threw away her household articles, and refused to let her back into the house.

Parvati lodged a complaint against Gurunatham five days ago with Pendurthi police station, but it was not taken up. On Tuesday, Gurunatham threw out all of her remaining belongings and slammed the door on her.

Parvati went to the police station again, but her pleas were ignored. In anger, she locked the gate, creating a ruckus.
Police personnel made her open the lock, counseled her, and sent her back home, assuring her that some action would be taken.
