The Women in Cinema Collective (WCC), the organisation for women working in Malayalam film industry, has sought the intervention of the chief minister and the society to ensure justice is delivered to the survivor of Kerala actor assault case.

“In the case, even the prosecution has approached the court alleging that the survivor will not get justice from the court and requested transfer of the trial to another court. It is shocking to know that the prosecutor himself suspects bias by the court in the case. It is very depressing that the wait for justice after three years in the case in which our colleague was attacked is to continue uncertain,” stated WCC in a social media post.

“We request immediate involvement of the chief minister and the general public into the matter. It is not solely the responsibility of the government to put an end to this intolerable wait for justice in the case. We would like to remind you that it is also the responsibility of all the people who are concerned about the future of girls and women,” added the WCC statement.

Recently, the prosecution in the case moved an application in the special court to halt the proceedings and transfer the trial to a different court. The prosecutor alleged that “the court is biased and witnesses in the case are being easily influenced.” Based on the prosecutor’s plea, proceedings in the case have been temporarily stopped.
