e-Registration for NET exam begins

As per schedule, the examination is scheduled to be held on January 22, 2017.

Chennai: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has begun the online registration of applications for National Eligibility Test (NET) 2017 on Monday.

As per schedule, the examination is scheduled to be held on January 22, 2017. The last date for applying online is November 16. CBSE will conduct this NET exam in 84 subjects in 90 cities across India. On behalf of University Grants Commission (UGC), the CBSE conducts the examination for determining the eligibility for the post of assistant professor or junior research fellowship in the universities and colleges.

This NET exam will be the last exam conducted by CBSE as the board has expressed its inability to the UGC to conduct this exam in future. “This time the candidates from Tamil Nadu are confused whether to apply for NET or not as the state eligibility test (SET) results are delayed this year. Many candidates may not prefer NET after clearing the SET,” said S.Swaminathan, advisor, The NET/SLET Association. Around 50,000 candidates from the state will appear for this exam.
