Indian companies don't innovate, rues IIM professor
The subject was his latest book, 'Grassroots Innovation: Mind on the margin are not marginal minds.'

Bengaluru: Indian corporate companies show little interest in innovation, going by an IIM professor. “MNCs from abroad approach us for innovations more than the domestic and care more for intellectual property rights. Here, they look only for profit. Why innovate when you are getting good money?,” said Professor Anil Gupta of the IIM -Ahmedabad and founder of HoneyBee Network, while in conversation with Dr.Ramachandra Guha during the second edition of the Bangalore Business Literature Fest at IIM- Bangalore on Saturday. The subject was his latest book, 'Grassroots Innovation: Mind on the margin are not marginal minds.'
In professor Gupta’s view, innovation should be shared for free and used to help those in need. Mr Devdutt Pattanaik discussed the unique connection between ancient Indian mythology and business and markets and boardrooms today.
"I could relate to everything he said. The way he presented the connection between the Gods and business was amazing. It was very informative,” said Karan, a student.
The event started off with an informal discussion among entrepreneurs, Mukesh Bansal, co- founder of Myntra, Manish Sabharwal, chariman of Teamlease, Sahil Barua, co-founder of Delhivery and Ashish Goyal, manager of international macro hedge funds. Former MP and actor, Ramya arrived briefly for the book launch of V Raghunathan's book " The Good Indian's Guide to Queue- Jumping."
