Temple Land Worth 10 cr Retrieved From Encroachers in Papakoil

Chennai: Officials of the HR & CE department took possession of 1.39 acres of temple land, worth Rs 10 crore, in Papakoil village on the Nagapattinam – Velankanni East Coast Road on Thursday, taking the total value of temple properties retrieved from encroachers to Rs 5,077 crore since May, 2021, when the DMK government took charge.

The latest retrieval of land, belonging to the Nagapattinam Arulmigu Sundararaja Perumal temple, was part of the ongoing drive against encroachment of temple lands, undertaken by HR & CE Minister P K Sekar Babu on the instructions of Chief Minister M K Stalin, an official press release said.

So far, a total of 5557.75 acres of land belonging to various temples coming under the HR & CE department had been taken possession off after evicting the encroaching through due process.
