Chennai: Following the announcement of the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (Neet) results on Tuesday evening, the Union health ministry has released a notice announcing the online admission-counselling schedule for the all India quota that is to be held.
However, the Tamil Nadu government is yet to decide on conducting counselling for seats in the private medical colleges. The notice said that apart from the 15 per cent all India quota seats, candidates are expected to contact the Director of Medical Education in the states for the remaining 85 per cent state seats and Private Medical and dental seats.
However, Director of Medical Education Dr R. Vimala said she was awaiting directions from the state government. The slow process in the announcements being updated online is definitely not helping the institutions. “Though the results as well as the schedule are out, no directive has been sent to us as yet,” said Dr J.S.N Murthy, vice chancellor, SRMC.
“Since the results were announced on Tuesday, we have been receiving calls from a number of parents enquiring what steps to take. How are we supposed to advise them without being aware ourselves,” he questioned.
