SpiceJet to connect Pondy to Hyderabad under Udan scheme

The airline has been awarded six proposals and 11 routes under the first phase of the Government of India's Udan Regional Connectivity Scheme.

Puducherry: Low-cost carrier SpiceJet will launch Hyderabad-Puducherry-Hyderabad flight service from August 16, as its third venture under the government’s regional air connectivity scheme.

SpiceJet’s Q-400 aircraft–SG 1004, which can seat 78 passengers each, operating on Hyderabad-Puducherry route, will depart from Hyderabad at 10 am and arrive in Puducherry at 11.20 am. SG 1005 will depart from Puducherry at 11.40 am and arrive in Hyderabad at 1.10 pm.

“With this new flight, Puducherry will be connected with Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Tirupati, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Chandigarh, Vijayawada and Varanasi with convenient onward connections”, SpiceJet said in a statement.

“The new flight will get Puducherry closer to major destinations on SpiceJet’s’ network.” senior vice-president commercial Shilpa Bhatia said, The airline has been awarded six proposals and 11 routes under the first phase of the Government of India’s Udan Regional Connectivity Scheme.

Out of the six finalised proposals, four will cater to the markets of Adampur, Kandla, Puducherry and Jaisalmer whereas two will be for under served markets of Porbandar and Kanpur.
