Mar Koorilose sees no solution to Jacobite and Orthodox dispute

Bishop rules out unity of churches.

Kottayam: There will be no solution to the disputes among the Jacobite and Orthodox factions on the basis of the latest verdict of the Supreme Court which had upheld the constitution of 1934, said Dr Geevarghese Mar Koorilose, Bishop of the Niranam diocese of the Jacobite Syrian Church. He was speaking to reporters at Kottayam. “There are many facets of unity amidst the Churches. Since there is a dispute and issues related to the faith, the Churches should be divided upon the basis of a majority and the cases should be withdrawn”, Mar Koorilose said.

The Jacobite Bishop said that the case related to the ownership of the St Peter’s and Paul’s Church Kolencherry and will be dealt with legally. Earlier, Mar Koorilose released the book, Methran Kayal- Haritha Keralathintey Veendeduppu, authored by Journalist Siby George by handing over a copy of the book to CPI(M) district secretary V. N. Vasavan.
