LDF asks government to resolve nurses' issues
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: LDF state committee on Monday urged the government to resolve the ongoing nurses strike in the state. The LDF meeting backed the demands raised by the nurses and hoped the meeting convened by chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan will find a solution to the matter. On bringing JDU on board, LDF convener Vaikom Viswan said that no discussion had taken place in this regard. “JDU has taken a positive stand in presidential elections and we have welcomed it. But at the moment they are in the UDF. The JDU was part of LDF earlier and it had not left the front on ideological differences,” he said.
On actor Dileep’s arrest, the LDF Convener said it had enhanced the image of the government . He, however, said it was wrong to portray all people working in the cinema filed as wrong doers. Those who have violated the law should be brought to justice notwithstanding their stature. The LDF also demanded the government to review the interstate river water agreements which had expired .
The meeting urged the government to take immediate steps to resolve pension and salary issues related to KSRTC pensioners and other staff. The LDF meeting decided to look into various demands raised by KGMOA. Viswan said the LDF urged the government to take immediate steps to ensure that BPL families get required quantity of kerosene and sugar. He said the government has been asked to look into crisis in the farm sector and take steps to provide relief to the farmers.
