Private schools dictating terms to government
Hyderabad: Lawmakers from Telangana and AP have promised to bring to government’s attention the findings of a joint study by academicians from US and India.
The report “Profiting from the poor: Pearson and Emergence of Multinational Edu-businesses in Hyderabad, India,” prepared by US professors Carol Anne Spreen and Sangeeta Kamat and J.Indivar (from India) on how private schools benefitted at the cost of government schools was submitted to Andhra Pradesh Legisla-tive Council Chairman A. Chakrapani, Telanga-na Legislative Council Chairman K. Swamy Goud and MLCs from Telangana at Ravindra Bharathi on Sunday.
Swamy Goud lamented that private players are dictating terms to the government. Some schools are not co-operating with DEOs, he said.
In response to the findings of the report that faulted AP governments’ MoU with Bridge Inter-national Academies, Chakrapani said that he would speak to higher-ups in the government.
